I am amazed when I read of the men of the old testament, the prophets, the faithful servants of God! We read how Abraham brought his family out to pray at the altar, how he spent his secret time with God. How God listened to his prayers  and delayed destroying the city of Sodom. How Job was encouraged by his friends to abandon God. Yet, he stayed the course. He stayed faithful despite the struggles and tragedy he experienced. How did they do that?

February 22nd, 2013

I am amazed when I read of the men of the old testament, the prophets, the faithful servants of God! We read how Abraham brought his family out to pray at the altar, how he spent his secret time with God.

How God listened to his prayers  and delayed destroying the city of Sodom.

How Job was encouraged by his friends to abandon God. Yet, he stayed the course. He stayed faithful despite the struggles and tragedy he experienced.

Solomon prayed ONLY for wisdom, yet God rewarded him not only Wisdom but blessings like none can imagine.

Moses, King Hezekiah, Ezra, Nehemiah, Samuel, and Daniel.

How changed would the world be if we prayed like Elijah. I heard recently about a modern day English pastor who, “He prayed so hard that his breath stained the walls of his room.” WOW….we need those prayers warriors today.

It struck me that Jesus, Paul, John, and the prophets of the Old Testament got up very early in the morning. They didn’t have the comforts or carpeted floors, soft couches, or heat and air conditioning. They endured the early morning to speak with God and to seek Wisdom and understanding.

Lord, may I learn to be more like them and come to you each day as faithful as your servants before me!
